Help Me Defining Our Standard In Modelling Industry

Posted 7 September 2009 16:34

Can you all who have been experence in this type of work, tell me what's going on here?

why our models, compared to foreign models, rates to rates, dollar to dollar, are not even up to that level...
not talking about high level agency-represented model who have been involved in much commercial shoots, but more to a second tier model/non agency-represented models whose works may have been once or twice published by top editorial issues and so forth..

They charge inexplicably expensive. I am sure they have good looks but they don;t see other areas (that photographers seek) that are lacking...
1. They don't have solid ports. May be one or two killer portraits. but there all they have..
2. They don't show of much variation of modelling they can do. (Usually shown in their ports)
3. Some doesn;t even know to pose or know very little poses! This is a basic skill model should have. Amateur or no amateur!
4. Some of them don't even shaved their legs and arms....and I haven't gone thru the bikini line yet...
5. Some of them are lacking professional attitude

and I wonder why this kind of group still get jobs? I am sure all of us are trying to make a living here. Models and photographer alike. But if models doesn't tackle this issue, to me, it's like photographers don't know how to use their tools or we usually call it Guys With Camera (GWC). Are GWCs keep the models busy and employed and thus lowering the modelling industry standard?

Please advise and, this time, I really wish someone tells me I am wrong!
